The Compounding Advantage of Annual Increments
When investors start their financial journey, contributions are often limited by early-career budgets. As income expands through annual appraisals, bonuses, and career growth, keeping monthly investments flat leaves investable surplus unutilized.
Automating an annual top-up scales monthly installments alongside wage increases, channeling new surplus directly into long-term compounding:

Frequently Asked Questions: Step-Up SIP
Common questions regarding SIP calculations, compounding formulas, and mutual fund conventions.
A Step-Up SIP (or Top-Up SIP) is a feature offered by Indian mutual fund houses where your monthly installment amount automatically increases by a predetermined percentage (e.g. 10%) or fixed amount (e.g. ₹1,000) every year, usually synchronized with your annual salary increment.
Because contributions increase annually inline with salary increments, larger amounts enter the compounding process earlier in your investment timeline, significantly increasing the final maturity accumulation compared to a flat monthly installment.
In standard mutual fund mandates, the step-up occurs at the beginning of each 12-month cycle (Month 13, Month 25, Month 37, etc.). The initial monthly contribution remains flat for the first 12 months.
